Dr. Mattia Franceschi is Assistant Professor at the University of Padova since March 2024. He obtained his M.Sc. in Material Engineering from the University of Padova in 2019 and he became Ph.D candidate at the University of Padova (Department of Industrial Engineering) in October 2019. For his research, dedicated at the development of nanostructured bainitic steel and soli-solid state phase transformation, he was awarded of his Ph.D. degree by the University of Padova in 2023. During his Ph.D part of the research at the Université Catholique de Louvain (2021) in Belgium and the National Centre for Metals Research (CENIM). From 2023 to February 2024, he worked as a research fellowship at the University of Padova (Department of Industrial Engineering). Then, he became Assistant Professor at the University of Padova since March 2024 (Department of Engineering and Management). In February 2024, he was received a Marie Slodowska-Curie post-doctoral fellowship (MSCA-PF) for the two years project entitled NES3ACOM (New Sustainable Safe Steel for Automotive Components). In the frame of this MSCA-PF he will join CENIM from August 2025. He has co-authored 22 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and participated to over 16 conferences. In addition, Dr. Franceschi is member of the National Association of Metallurgy (AIM) in Italy, and member of the technical committee for “Heat Treatment” at AIM. Moreover, he is a reviewer for several peer review journals including Metals, Material Science and Engineering A, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, Materialia, etc..
Dr. Franceschi current research interests involve the design, processing (heat and thermomechanical treatment) and characterization of microstructure and in use properties of advance high strength steels (carbide free bainitic stels and medium manganese steels).
