Research Gate Profile
Dr. David San Martín is a tenured scientist at the Spanish National Centre for Metals Research (CENIM-CSIC). He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1997. Then he joined CENIM to work on the characterization and modelling of solid-solid phase transformation steels. He gained his Ph.D. for this research in 2003 from the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2004 he joined the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering in the Delft University of Technology (NOVAM group headed by Prof. Sybrand van der Zwaag) as a postdoctoral researcher where he was mainly involved in the characterization of phase transformations in metastable stainless steels, but also in titanium alloys and in the production/characterization of novel aluminium matrix composites for the aerospace industry. In January 2008, Dr. San Martin was awarded with a JAE-doc fellowship and rejoined CENIM as a research associate. Since July 2008 he is a Tenured Scientist at this research centre. He has leaded or participated as part of the research team in 35 national/international projects or contracts with industry. He has co-authored more than 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, has participated in more than 70 contributions to national/international conferences and has supervised or co-supervised several (11) PhD/Mater Thesis projects. His research topics include the investigation of solid-state phase transformations in different types of steels, with a main focus on metastable austenitic and martensitic steels or microalloyed steels: i) microstructural and mechanical characterization, ii) optimization of the mechanical properties and iii) thermodynamic and kinetic modelling.
