Research Gate Profile

Lucía Morales Rivas (sci: Lucia Morales-Rivas) is industrial and materials engineer and holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, obtained in February 2016 at Carlos III University of Madrid. She is since 2023 “Investigadora Establecida” (R3 certificate, bestowed by the Spanish “Agencia Estatal de Investigación”) in the field of structural materials. Her research interests involve the determination of mechanisms of displacive transformations, deformation and damage in advanced steels and other metallic alloys with metastable structures, from both experimental and theoretical approaches. Her pre-doctoral studies were conducted at the Physical Metallurgy department at CENIM-CSIC, Spain, between August 2011 and November 2015, which led to the PhD Thesis entitled “Microstructure and Mechanical response of nanostructured bainitic steels”. After that period, from December 2015 to February 2022, she was affiliated with the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (now the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau -RPTU-), Germany. Among other scientific and academic responsibilities within the Working Group Materials Testing, she led the 3.5-year project “Fatigue behavior of nanostructured bainite”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In February 2022 she joined the Solid-Solid Phase Transformation team at CENIM-CSIC under an “Atracción de Talento (CAM)” M2 contract and is since 2023 the leader of the ComFuturo project “Austanding”, co-funded by the FGCSIC and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, for the development of a new lean stainless-steel microstructure with enhanced mechanical properties.
